Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1. Depart Vancouver
Board your non-stop flight on Air Canada bound for Sydney. Departing late evening, after crossing the international dateline, arrive in Sydney early morning of day 3.

Day 3. Arrive Cairns
On arrival in Sydney, after clearing customs, you will transfer to the domestic airport for the onward flight to Cairns. You will be met on arrival and transferred by private vehicle to your accommodation at the Sebel Cairns.

Cairns is the heart of the Tropical North and is your gateway to some of the best scenery in Australia. Founded in 1876 as the port for inland gold fields, Cairns has matured from a flighty frontier town to a friendly international gateway and has become the most welcoming of all Queensland cities. The Cairns region is internationally recognized for world class attractions, superb natural features and friendly north Queensland hospitality. The city is a delightful blend of colonial architecture, ranging from grand public and commercial buildings to wooden houses built in the distinctive north Queensland style. Cairns is the focal point for the magnificent Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and is surrounded by World Heritage listed rainforests. To the west are the lush Atherton Tablelands and the outback plains and gorges of the gulf savannah.

Day 4. Great Barrier Reef Day Tour
Fly where two worlds meet. Experience the exhilaration of flying over the rainforest canopy of the World Heritage Rainforest then as you see the green change to the vivid blues of the water, you are flying over the 8th wonder of the world - The Great Barrier Reef. Flying low over the Reef, your pilot will show you the wonders that live beneath the sea. Landing at Agincourt Reef, on the very edge of the Great Barrier Reef, join the Quicksilver vessel and floating platform for a day of activities. There are facilities for both swimmers and non-swimmers to enjoy this stunning reef world. Tour length 8.33 Hours. Day 5. Cape Tribulation Daintree
Your naturalist guide will meet you at your accommodation and, after introductions, you will drive north along the scenic route to Mossman. Lush farmland contrasts with seascape, as you approach the majestic Daintree River.

There will be time for a short morning tea break then it's all aboard for an informative river cruise. You will ascend the Alexandra Range and pause for a panoramic view of World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest merging with the azure colours of the Coral Sea. Experience the rainforest intimately on the elevated National Park Boardwalk.

A delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads is served while you have the opportunity to hand feed a kangaroo and enjoy a cold drink from the bar. At Cape Tribulation Beach, there is a little time to swim in the Coral Sea (seasonal) or stroll along the beach. After a short afternoon refreshment stop, cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and begin your homeward journey, somewhat wiser, after yourTotal Rainforest Experience. Tour length 11.67 Hours.

Day 6. Day at leisure in Cairns

Day 7. Cairns to Sydney
Transfer to the airport by private vehicle for the short flight to Sydney. On arrival you are transferred to your accommodation at the InterContinental Hotel Sydney.

As Australia's largest city, Sydney embraces its harbour, taking the sea and natural waterways to its heart. The grand style of the Sydney Opera House has made the city the landmark of the South Pacific. Sydney, with some 4 million people is the oldest, biggest, and liveliest city in Australia. Sydney's facilities for sightseeing and holiday activities are unequalled by any other Australian city. It is a paradise for surfers, swimmers, yachtsmen, fishermen, and golfers. Full of history and great nightlife, the choice of things to do in Sydney is endless.

Tonight, cruise, dine and dance aboard Sydney's flagship MV Sydney 2000. This is the most popular Dinner Cruise and a must for special occasions, visitors to Sydney or for those who just love a great night out. Highlights include a contemporary a la carte menu, private dining rooms are available, a dance band, full bar facilities and upper deck star gazing. Includes: 3 course a la carte dining, coffee, upper deck seating and entertainment.

Day 8. Essential Sydney Sightseeing
Your tour today will start in your hotel lobby where your guide will meet you before showing you through the historic Rocks precinct. Witness the birth place of Sydney and explore the convict built cottages, pubs and the first church in Australia. Then head east and make your way to the stunning botanical gardens situated right in the heart of Sydney. En route you pass through Macquarie Street named after the fifth Governor of New South Wales, Lachlan Macquarie. Here you will see Australia's first Parliament House, Mint, Hyde Park Barracks and St Mary's Cathedral. The tour continues onto Mrs Macquarie's Chair situated on the water's edge, here you will enjoy a walking tour of the harbour's edge with magnificent views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House before rejoining your vehicle. Continue through Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross and into Rushcutters bay. It's here you stop to enjoy a lunch at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Australia's premier yacht club and home to what is considered yachting's 'Everest' - the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Continue on through Darling Point, one of Sydney's most affluent suburbs and see some of Sydney's most sought after addresses. Pass by Double Bay, Rose Bay, Vaucluse and Watsons Bay, before traversing along the coastline to Sydney's most famous beach, Bondi Beach. Here you will have some time to soak up the atmosphere of this beachside Mecca. Stroll down the esplanade with the locals and maybe enjoy an ice cream before re-boarding your vehicle. Make your way back to Sydney via the vibrant Oxford Street and the suburb of Paddington; admire this boutique shopping precinct and the charming Georgian and Victorian architecture of the homes. Arriving back at your hotel you will have enjoyed a great day out seeing some of Sydney's best kept secrets and having taken some fantastic photos. Tour Duration: 4.5 Hours

Day 9. An Evening at the Sydney Opera House
Met by a guest liaison representative, your evening starts with The Essential Tour for an insight into Australia's most recognized landmark, followed by dinner at either Guillaume at Bennelong or Aria, and then a show of your choice.

Day 10. Blue Mountains Day Tour
You will be collected from your hotel this morning by Australia Eco Adventures in a small group vehicle. Travel to Featherdale Wildlife Park for visit before the park opens to the general public where you will meet the native animals including kangaroos, emus, wombats and dingoes. Depart the Park and travel to the Blue Mountains, stopping at Bilpin along the way for morning tea with home made apple pie. We will enjoy a nature stop at Mt Banks with stunning flora and views. From this point, cross the mountains and visit Hartley Vale where we explore areas and may find kangaroos in the wild. Next we stop at to Govetts Leap for the magnificent valley and waterfall views and then off to lunch at the Katoomba Golf Club. After lunch, travel to Jamison Valley for amazing mountain views. Continue to Cliff Drive to experience The "Three Sisters" where your guide will relate an Aboriginal Dreamtime story about this unusual rock formation, and a visit to the Scenic World attractions where you have the chance to ride the worlds steepest rail line and walk through ancient rainforest (own expense). Your last stop is at the new Koomurri Aboriginal Centre where you have plenty of time to see a corroboree, look around the art and artifacts shops and maybe try painting with ochre on their painting wall. This fascinating visit rounds off the day before you depart the mountains and return to the city after a complete day of experiences. Tour Duration: 10 Hours. Includes Lunch.

Day 11. Sydney to Vancouver
Transfer back to the airport for your return flight to Vancouver.
